Computer-aided diagnosis system for characterizing ISUP grade≥2 prostate cancers at multiparametric MRI: A cross-vendor evaluation.
2019
International audience; Purpose: To assess the performance of a computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) system trained at characterizing International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) grade >= 2 peripheral zone (PZ) prostate cancers on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) examinations from a different institution and acquired on different scanners than those used for the training database.Patients and methods: Preoperative mpMRIs of 74 men (median age, 65.7 years) treated by prostatectomy between 2014 and 2017 were retrospectively selected. One radiologist outlined suspicious lesions and scored them using Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System version 2 (PI-RADSv2); their CA…
Computer-aided diagnosis in digital mammography: comparison of two commercial systems
2014
Aim: Within this work, a comparative analysis of two commercial computer-aided detection or diagnosis (CAD) systems, CyclopusCAD® mammo (v. 6.0) produced by CyclopusCAD Ltd (Palermo, Italy) and SecondLook® (v. 6.1C) produced by iCAD Inc. (OH, USA) is performed by evaluating the results of both systems application on an unique set of mammographic digital images routinely acquired in a hospital structure. Materials & methods: The two CAD systems have been separately applied on a sample set of 126 mammographic digital cases, having been independently diagnosed by two senior radiologists. According to the human diagnosis, the cases in the sample reference set are divided into 61 negatives and 6…
Evaluation of the primary stability in dental implants placed in low density bone with a new drilling technique, osseodensification: an in vitro study
2020
Background Primary stability is an important key determinant of implant osseointegration. We investigated approaches to improve primary implant stability using a new drilling technique termed osseodensification (OD), which was compared with the conventional under-drilling (UD) method utilized for low-density bones. Material and Methods We placed 55 conical internal connection implants in each group, in 30 low-density sections of pig tibia. The implants were placed using twist drill bits in both groups; groups Under Drilling (UD) and Osseodensification (OD) included bone sections subjected to conventional UD and OD drilling, respectively. Before placing the implants, we randomized the bone s…
Is Kelami's Method Still Useful in the Smartphone Era? The Virtual 3-Dimensional Reconstruction of Penile Curvature in Patients With Peyronie's Disea…
2021
Abstract Background Peyronie's disease is an idiopathic fibrotic disease affecting the penile tunica albuginea. Among other resulting deformities, the more common penile curvature should be assessed preferentially with in-office goniometric estimation after pharmacologically induced erection, although clearly invasive and uncomfortable. Aim In the present pilot study, we investigated the usefulness for the patient and the surgeon of a 3-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the penile curvature obtained through photogrammetry software in clinical evaluation and surgical planning. Methods Enrolled patients received alprostadil 10 μg by intracavernous injection. Then, the medical personnel took …
